On this episode we invited Dr. David Toro, a graduate from CES University in Colombia. He completed his Emergency Medicine Residency at New York Medical College – Metropolitan Hospital Center, and subsequent fellowship training with the Wilderness Medical Society and ACEP. He has worked in Medical Education ever since. His prior and current appointments include Associate Residency Director, Clerkship Director, Program Director, Director of Simulation, Director of Faculty Development, Director of Remediation and has been a clinical educator for both Graduate and Undergraduate Medical Education. Dr. Toro has been recipient of local, regional, national and international teaching awards, including the SAEM-CDEM’s Young Educator of the Year Award. He joins us to speak, from his Residency Program’s director perspective now, and as a former FMG looking for a position in the US, his struggles and successes, He has accomplish so much, and the resilience shown has led to a remarkable professional career. We talk about couple’s match, LORs, ROL, Waiver process, Specific Visa Situations (J1, H1B, Others) and tips from “behind the scenes” as a program director, as the head of the selection team, for residents in his training program, in Lima, OH.
